Reccord attendence for Marilyn Monroe

More than 8.000 visitors came to the museum ‘Leerer Beutel’ to see ‘MM – Mythos Marylin’. The exhibition in honor of the american pop-icon is the most successfull art exhibition displaying art of the 20th and 21st century in the Regensburg located gallery.

Regensburg/Munich, June 2011 – From March 20th to June 26th, 2011 the civic gallery ‘Leerer Beutel’ presented Europe’s biggest Monroe exhibition ‘MM – Mythos Marilyn’. The private originals like personal belongings and photos, such as Monroe-insprired artwork where shown in a space of 11.840 squft. Exactly 8.088 guests came in the term of 3 months – a new record for the civic gallery. There have never before been that many visitors in Regensburg’s art exhibitions dedicated to art of the 20th and 21st century.

The euphoric feedback was even for Dr. Reiner Meyer, director of the civic gallery ‘Leerer Beutel’, a big surprise: ‘The exhibition was kind of an experiment, a socio-cultural exhibition was a first for us.’ The guestbook of the museum expresses the big success: ‘We received a great feedback of the visitors. The high attendance and also the many – more than positive – responses have set a new benchmark. We’ll do our best to keep ahead in the future.“

She was not only Andy Warhol’s muse. The Exhbition ‘MM – Mythos Marilyn’ displays personal belongings, pictures and artwork – like this piece of Jörg Döring, 2006/2007.

Freddy Fischer created with ‘Chance Future’ a foundation that helps out children and youngsters such as young adults and families who got to handle rough times. Willing to support the project ‘Boxing to reduce aggression’, Jörg Döring donated a painting to the Freddy Fischer Foundation that even underpins the idea of the project:

‘Ali represents a person that has shown that assertiveness, dominance and aggression must not be used in a brute way, but that this talents – paired with continuity and discipline – are made to be used civilized for big success. The result is much more honorable than the ones referring to the devices of these tough guys who want to have their own way regardless….!’
